Quilling art is the art of paper filigree where the artist makes designs using narrow strips of acid-free paper, which are rolled and then shaped. I learned quilling from my mother, who was a gifted quilling artist. I actually wasn't sure I'd have the patience to do this, but it's both relaxing and fun. I enjoy creating my own designs, but I also get a kick out of making up some of the kits available.
Hi Wendakal,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the butterfly! I was wondering if it was possible to get the pattern. I'm new to quillilling and would love help on creating my own patterns and making old ones my own. If you would be willing to help that would be great, I find it so difficult to find and classes or even supplies in Canada.
Hi CaftyMom! Quilling supplies really are hard to find in Canada. I order mine from the Quilling Superstore... link to the right. They're in the States and are very reliable.
ReplyDeleteAs for the butterfly, I can post a clearer picture of the wings. They're just made with loops glued at one end, open at the other. Then they are filled and frilled with "S" shaped bits or just loose circles. I make the body with graduated pieces turned with a beading tool. These are mounted on a wire with a bead at the bottom to hold it in place; at the top, they form the attenna. Will post an instructional blog post, no problem. :)
That would be great! thank you. I just ordered some stuff from them. Now the worst part the wait lol. Have you ever ordered from Quillingcreations?
ReplyDeleteNo. I use the Quilling Superstore because my mom did, and she was always satisfied. :)
